This course is intended for anyone involved in the design, planning,
implementation and observation of assessment and development centres.
Prior Training Required: None
Objectives
- To enable delegates to understand the assessment centre approach
in terms of its design principles, application and validity
- To enable delegates to acquire practical skills in the design
and planning of assessment and development centres
- To develop skills in observation and assessment
- To qualify delegates as registered users of the Discovery
Series of assessment centre exercises

- Delegates gain skills in competency analysis and definition
using Repertory grids, Critical Incident Analysis, etc.
- Practice in observation and scoring of assessment centre exercises,
including group exercises and in-trays
- Thorough exploration of the differences between assessment
centres and development centres
- Exploration of implementation issues including resourcing,
assessor training and timetabling
- Extensive use of case studies of actual assessment and development
centres
- Consideration of how to integrate assessment centre data and
psychometric measures in the assessment of competencies
- Delegates design a first assessment centre
